The World Sudoku Championship and the World Puzzle Championship 2019 are organized by Logic Masters Deutschland e.V. and will take place in Kirchheim/Germany on behalf of the World Puzzle Federation (WPF). To participate in one or both competitions, you would have to be a member of the World Puzzle Federation. As of March 1st 2019 the WPF has 30 official members, which means 30 countries are permanently represented by a national puzzle association. These countries are:

Bangladesh, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Chinese Taipei, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA.

Further there are personal members from different countries:

Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, DR of Congo, Iran, Israel, Luxembourg, Lebanon, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Uruguay.

If you have the citizenship of a country which is an official WPF member, you would have to get in contact with the board of the national puzzle association to find out about the national championships and if you can qualify for the world championships.

If you can’t find your country on the list of official members you would have to get in contact with the WPF to find out, if you can become a personal member. The fee as a personal member is 50€/year. On the homepage of the WPF you can find the contact information on the board members of the WPF, as well as the contact information on the official members and the personal members - they might be able to help you with your application.

The members will be informed when the registration process starts and how many participants are allowed to take part in the championships.

The question, if you need a visa, depends on where you come from. Within the European Union you don’t need a visa. Even with the obscurity depending the Brexit, we don’t expect problems with contestants from the United Kingdom. But at the moment the possibility of needing a visa can not be ruled out.

„Generally speaking, all other foreigners (than EU-citizens) require a visa for stays in Germany. A visa is not required for visits of up to 90 days in an 180 day period for nationals of those countries for which the European Community has abolished the visa requirement.“

There is no price difference for participants, captains or guests.

Triple and quadruple accommodations mean, that there is – additional to the two beds – a convertible sofa in the hotel room.

There are two types of guest houses.

6 persons house:
- 3 double bedrooms with additional bathroom sinks
- 1 combined living and dining room
- 1 kitchen
- 1 bathroom with shower and toilet
- 1 extra toilet

8 persons house:
- 3 double bedrooms with additional bathroom sinks
- 2 single bedrooms
- 1 combined living and dining room
- 1 kitchen
- 2 bathrooms with shower and toilet

There is no daily cleaning service in the houses. If needed, towels can be changed on Wednesday. Houses are situated in 4 different areas in walking distance (up to 10 min) around the hotel, not necessarily next to each other or in the same area.

Please note that we might charge you an extra fee for high energy cost in case of over proportional use (turned on heating and open window over hours for example).

We will provide shuttle services from and to two main spots:

- Frankfurt International Airport (FRA), which is approximately 150 km away from Kirchheim.
- Bad Hersfeld, train station, which is about 12 km away from Kirchheim.

To avoid long waiting for the guests especially at Frankfurt International Airport, please let us know your travel itinerary as soon as you know it. We have to schedule the pickups and drop-offs and therefore need the exact arrival/departure dates together with the train or flight numbers.
